Jacob & his kitty

Jacob and his kitty are nearly inseparable from the moment Jacob goes outside each day.
It's amazing that the thing hasn't bitten him in all this time, considering how he handles it. We always remind him to be gentle with it, but he's still learning what that means.

He feeds it hay and rocks.

And gives it rides in the dump truck

Here's a video of him trying to give the kitty a ride:

This and that

Eating some fresh blackberries from the woods.

Jacob likes to scoop up gravel with his backhoe and haul it around to other places on the driveway.

Jacob built an airplane out of Duplo blocks and he was pretty proud of himself

Reading together

The sunflowers are "huge"!

...and so are the tomato plants. Every year I think I'm leaving tons of space between the plants. and every year they grow bigger than expected.

We took the truck into town and Jacob liked popping his head out of the sun roof while we were parked.

Going for a walk with Grandma

Jacob absolutely loves his new cowboy boots from Mama Miriam. 💕

Just like Dad.

I asked him how we were going to tell his boots apart from Dad's boots. He immediately replied "broke" and pointed to the bottom of the boot. (apparently he was listening last week when Dominic was telling me that his boots were falling apart and the soles separating from the boot). 😃

Shopping at Jacob's favorite store - Menards!

He actually fell asleep while drinking...

Me: "Jacob, don't scoop up the cat with the backhoe."  (I find myself saying the strangest things these days)
Jacob (to the cat): "Skooze me! Skooze me!"

We've been trying to teach Timmy how to get down the stairs by wiggling.
The other day we were out filling the cow tank and I hear Jacob talking to the cat and saying "wiggle, wiggle" and trying to help it get down the step.

Galena

It was a gorgeous day so we headed to Galena, in search of bridges ;-)

We found some really nice hiking trails - ones that are perfect for a stroller!

After exploring for awhile, we walked around town a bit before heading for the waterfall.

Our attempt at taking a family photo (with everyone looking) failed miserably...

The highlight for the boys was throwing rocks in the river.

Timmy got a kick out of it every time Jacob would throw a rock - he'd laugh and laugh.

Here's a short video:

We stopped at Yellowstone Lake on the way home.
