I thought we could sneak in a quick walk before naps, but Jacob didn't make it long before he fell asleep.
Timmy getting into trouble, as usual... he opened the pantry door and pulled out the jar of popcorn.
Checking out his big brother's bed
Our Bleeding Heart on Friday...
...and then on Saturday... 😢
It snowed all day and most of it melted, fortunately, but enough stuck around to make it feel like winter again.
Sunday morning was sunny but cold.
It was a good day to head south, so we did. :) We had planned a trip to Starved Rock with some friends from church, so we met them down in Rockford for Mass that morning before continuing south.
It was a gorgeous day down there! Sunny with temps in the mid-50's.
It was so nice to see some green! And some flowers in bloom!
Hiking down to French Canyon.
They have 4 kids (ages 4 and under), so we didn't think we'd be doing much hiking, but they all did great!
We rented a house to stay in, which was really nice and big.
It was off the main road and pretty secluded.
The best part was the river in the back yard - it was so nice!
Our friends came over for supper that night - they brought pizza and a cake to celebrate our feast days (both mine and their oldest daughter's).
It rained that night and kept raining until about 1pm the next day, so we just hung out at the house and got some morning naps in.
Jacob had a good time feeding Timmy.
After lunch we headed to Matthiessen State Park.
Ready for a hike!
It was more than a tad muddy after all the rain.
The fun trails that go through the river were not quite visible. This is the one we normally hike, but we opted for a different route. ;-)
